I have a set of 16 high quality(density) scans, circling the statue at both a low and high loop.
The laserscan is registered in an external program, so I am importing as ‘EXACT’. and on the import it is set to colour for alignment.
I then import my set of 568 photos.
I’ve attached the images below showing the alignment settings I am using. Which from reading the forums seem to be a commonly used setup for when you need a little bit more from the alignment.
Once aligned there are two separate components.
The laserscanners built in camera to colour the points I believe is the issue, it is a low quality in-built camera & the statue is quite plain. I don’t normally have alignment issues when doing larger scenes & buildings.
I also see the #pts: on the laser scanner inputs are low (in the #pts:100’s to 10k) compared to an average of #pts:80000 for the images.
Is there anything I can try? I was thinking I may possibly need more colour difference picked up in the laserscanner and image set. possibly reshooting and adding coloured control markers or other ques so there is more features detected.
I want to be able to align the laserscanner and image set without the use of CP’s if possible.
I quickly tried doing some tests to determine which setting it was, but I couldn’t recreate the problem after I used the settings you suggested. I assume the correct alignment is cached, I tried clearing it but but the components kept aligning, I will set aside some time to test and post back in here soon if I can figure out which setting it was in particular.
Hello. I hve similar problem and now trying to solve it.
I have laser scans without information about color (just b/w scan). And I have photos from camera and drone.
However, after trying to aling everything, I get separate components. Separate component for laser scans and few more components for photos.
I think, does RealityCapture can align photos to laser scans that lack of RGB data?
