Laser scan and drone

Hi.

I am having 2 problems with a bigger scan.

I have 3 sources of images.
1 Leica BLK 360, E57 Laser scans
1 Sony A7S camera images
1 DJI Mini Pro 4 Camera images

First. The Sony pictures line up nicely with the Laser scans.

But when introducing the drone images, I get an align, but in the point cloud I get these long twisted round distruibuted points. Clearly not the way it should be.

With Sony A7:

When Drone introduced:

I wonder. What causes this, and how can I fix it? I have tried with all sort of control points, but doesent fix it. Any settings? What is the preffered workflow for aligning such a dataset with 3 sources.

Second:
I am having a second laser scan, not aligned to my first scan. That I want to align into this asset.
However when I load it in, it seems to align to the same “centre” as the first scan. I understand that the scans probably have the same “origin”, but is it possible to do this? I have aligned it in a different component, and it works fine there.

Thanks.

Hi Johan,
what do you mean by twisted points? I suppose it is no good visible on the attached image. Have you used control point properly placed over the images/laser scans? They should help to merge the components properly. Number of sources doesn’t matter, if there is a good overlap, they will be aligned properly.

For second issue, the origin is the problem. What are your import settings for such laser scans? Can you try to import them as unregistered?

Thanks for your help.

With twisted, I mean the drone pictures appears with a spherical shape. I will try to find better control points.
