Laser (lecia blk 360, e57) and photographs won't align

Hi,

Read every single thread about laser + photo, watched YouTube videos. Can’t align photos and laser scan

Hardware : Leica BLK360 + iPhone XS (portrait mode). I get good model and texture just out of photos, and just photos align perfectly!

  1. Grab e57 file from recap pro, export as complete.

  2. import to RC, Align + Reconstruct. All good here. (6 total cameras)

  3. Import 234 photos hit align again. 

  4. 2 components created. Component 0 - 6/240 used. Component 2 - 234/240 used.

So what is the requirement to align laser + photos? I just can’t understand how does it align those two together ? 

Any help would be great, have been at this for couple days.

Hello Roman,

did you import your laser scans with color? In most cases this is necessary for a proper alignment with images. Also, you need to make sure that there is sufficient overlap among lasers and images.

You can also try to manually place some control points on images and .lsp files and align again.

we have same problem as you have

Try Exporting the scans as .ptx instead of .e57.

I also used BLK360 and had the same problem, but it was aligned by repeating alignment.
