Large World Coordinates - Just Curios

Hi there, sorry if this is a dumb question to ask, but messing around in the Roadmap I saw a post that I was wondering if there is clarification out there:

is the 88m km squared or per side. I’m sure its squared, but if its not, that is insane and I am in awe of this game engine. Just curios.

They dont work right anyway, so theres probably no point in even wondering.

Exactly that, theres a ton of forum posts on various problems they either directly cause or are indirectly responsible for, including animation stuttering.
You can use the forum search to find out.
I believe epic strips those topics (anything that would show their ineptitude really) from SEs but not from a direct forum search.

Also, the measures they list are probably PR BS rather than actionable.

The first one, 21km, was never a limit in UE4, not squared and not linerar.

If somehow ue5 regressed to the point it was completely unable to render something 21km away from camera… that I don’t know. Its possible looking at epics track record, but not probable.

And, 21km^2 is literally nothing.
I had several 144km squared single 1k tile setups for render/video only. The whole landscape would render (one hour a frame or so, but it would).
