Hello Friends,
How much Ram power and GPU is required to create in projects in UEFN. I currently have a laptop that has 16GB of ram and a graphics card that intel iris Xe MAX 4GB. Yet I’m running into issues with simply opening template islands when creating a new project. The content flickers and ram goes berserk. Any thoughts? Thank you all!
Hello there @AllBrasco!
Per UE’s documentation, the system requirements for UEFN are the following:
Minimum Recommended Operating System (OS) Windows 10, 64-bit version 1909, revision .1350 or higher Windows 10, 64-bit version 1909Revision .1350 or higher, with DirectX 12 support CPU Quad-core Intel or AMD, with 2.5 GHz or faster CPU Quad-core Intel or AMD, with 2.5 GHz or faster CPU Memory 16 GB RAM 32 GB RAM or higher Video Card (GPU) Nvidia GTX 960, AMD R9 280, or equivalent DX11 GPU DirectX 12-compatible graphics card with the latest drivers Video Memory (VRAM) 4 GB 8 GB or higher Drivers NVIDIA Driver 516.25 or higher for Nvidia Video Cards AMD Driver 22.2.2 or higher for AMD Video Cards Additional NVMe Solid State Drive
Your setup has the minimal values for both RAM and GPU, meaning that the engine will be already working at its limit on base operation. Still, you could get a close to stable setup if you test the following steps:
- Lower the editor’s scalability settings to the minimal (Window > Engine Scalability)
- Disable both Nanite and Lumen in your projects
- Close all background apps whiel working in UE
- Use the smaller templates available for your islands
If the problems persists after these actions, then the remaining path is to improve RAM to at least 32, and check for any available upgrades for your laptop’s GPU component.
