Hi,
i am having issue with unreal engine 5 , UE5 using my integrated gpu (intel ) instead of dedicated gpu RTX 3060. My laptop model name is "Asus tuf gaming F15 " Specifications are : intel i5 11th gen. , 16gm Ram, Rtx 3060 Gpu . i tried finding solution in forum pages but did not find the solution. i am attaching a image to show the issue. let me know if you need any details! Thanks!
Windows is going to allocate some of your CPU towards virtual memory regardless of what we want with the exception of turning off virtual memory. You can turn it off relatively easily, but I wouldn’t recommend it because you will still get crashes indicating “Out of Video Memory” despite having a really good graphics card. Don’t ask me how I know lol.
Your scene is going to have to be absolutely loaded down before your 3060 starts to warm up and you’ll most likely be CPU bound before then anyway. Looking at your screenshot, you have a lot of room to work with before you’ll see any noticeable differences in the GPU usage in my humble opinion.
Clarification: i uploaded the (UE SCENE)screenshot just to show you the issue ! it does not reflect my usage! and the other side i do not have any issue with cpu ! i know ue uses cpu to render the shader (caching)in the first place! Now the main issue is that my integrated gpu (Intel HD Graphics) is being used in place of RTX 3060. UE 5 prefers integrated gpu over dedicated. that is my the issue , i hope you understand what i am trying to say!
I think you can dedicate a graphics card for a program, from your display settings. I’ve done that on mine. But I’m having a problem where my UE stops responding and the GPU usage goes to 0%, almost always after I do something on UE(anywhere from turning up the camera speed, to just trying to hold down right click to turn the camera). I have an i9 and rtx 4080(laptop version, means 3070 equivalent) and 64 RAM. I’m curious have you tried dedicating your rtx GPU to UE from display settings, and what you’re saying is that UE still switches to your other GPU? Does your UE stop responding?
