Lanscape Section Export?

Asking for a friend that doesn’t speak or type the best English. Is there a way to just select a section of the landscape and export it as a mesh of some sort? So you don’t have to export the entire ginormous landscape and then try and figure out which little piece it was in the big landscape in your modeling program?

You could select the region with the gizmo tool -> export it as a heightmap -> import the heightmap into your 3d program

Well we just came up with an idea - just save the map - then delete all the none needed components and then export what is left. This should work.
