Landscape Road Splines + Dithered Road Edge Material

Hi!
My Road Material is having some dark shadows at the sides. I think the material is just fine. My best guess is the problem is caused by Global Illumination (lumen). To solve the problem i tried:

  • turn of shadows on the road segement in Landscape Mode. (No impact! It seems like the shadows switch is only for direct lighting and I cant find any other switch in the segments and control point section for “Distance Field Lighting”)
  • In the static mesh editor i unchecked both “cast shadow” and “Affect Distance Field Lighting” boxes. No change.

When i turn off lumen for the whole scene the shadows are gone. But thats obviously not the solution :slight_smile:

Problem solved!

It seems like its an unintended sideeffect caused by Lumen GI. (UE 5.4.4)
It only happens when “SCREEN TRACES” is checked on!
