Landscape paint material layer not appearing

Hi,

Apologies if this question has been answered, I’ve seen the issue pop up but I have been searching for hours and none of the presented issues answered about this dilemma have solved the issue for me.

I’m unable to paint on my landscape as there are no layers to select from:

In my material editor, there are no layer blend options, and this is just the basic grass material that comes with starter content:

In addition, I have made sure that I have named my layer to which my Landscape is a part of and I have it selected:

I’ve made sure that my layer visibility is on “Show all layers” in the Target Layers panel and of course I have already applied my landscape material to the landscape successfully:

I’ve uninstalled and re-installed Unreal Engine 5 as well. This one is really stumping me. Please help!

I’m pretty sure it’s because you’re using just a simple material. You need to have code specific to landscape materials in the shader for it to work.

Ok great that was the exact thing I needed. What is the reason for it being so complicated? I remember in older versions of Unreal you didn’t need to enter blueprints to paint with a landscape material. Thank you so much!

It was always this fiddly, actually. Maybe previously you had a marketplace asset material?
