Landscape: Maya or UE4-Tools

I don’t get it. Will it be fine if I will make terrain mesh inside Maya and import into UE4. OR should I use only UE4 landscaping tools? I do understand that I can do both. But I don’t understand if there any problems performance vice with Maya triangulated mesh (landscape only, not any mesh)?

Many more. And yet I don’t understand if I can stick to Maya? Will I bounce into some problems? Or should I know something specific in order to create landscape with Maya not with UE4-tools?

  • I am not lazy. I am learning UE4 on my own. But I am really confused. Sorry boys and girls for asking for help
    Thanks in advance

** Oh and I am talkin’ about a game. Desktop

Stick to UE4, you can make a base terrain in Maya / or whatever, export it as a Height-field, and import it into unreal at the map size you need.
The landscape system optimizes LODs and allows to create distance mesh replacements.

Take a look at these tutorials.
And note that this one is the one with distance mesh replacments
