Recently noticed that I am unable to do any landscape painting at all. When investigating this issue I came across this reddit post talking about some of the issues and fixes. I’ve just tried this myself, used advance blending on all 3 layers, made 3 unique layers to switch when changing to paint, I also assigned unique blending group names to each layer but nothing works.
Only way I can somewhat paint one layer but painting another layer on top seems to have 50% opacity?
You are probably painting it wrong. prototype the material in full colors. Or just don’t use the landscape system at all which will solve all the problems.
How can I paint it wrong? You have X number of layer and you paint. Also how else are you meant to use landscape layer without layerblend or layer samples to manually paint terrain?
What size is the area you are trying to paint? as pictured, it seems MUCH less than 1m squared.
What size is the map that receives the paint of the layers (if you don’t know it can be exported)? and what is the minimum size you can paint on said map? What does that minimum size work out to on the actual map?
Figure it out, do the math. You should hopefully discover what you are doing wrong.
It’s got nothing to do with how I paint or how my shader has been set up, been doing it this way for years and it’s been fine. Something changed in 5.7 most likely that made the workflow behave differently.
It has, but your starting position is wrong. Even the old system wouldn’t have worked given the image you shared and the constraints the system is built on.
Also, I didn’t say it has anything to do with your shader setup or how you paint - do the ■■■■ math. Figure it out.
