Landmass Plugin - Preserve Mesh Topology?

Hello!

I am trying out the new landscape layering features and used the example brushes of the landmass plugin. When I set the brush type to static mesh it seems that only the outline of the mesh is used. The whole mesh is captured in “Capture Mesh Depth” but the jump flood turns it into a distance field gradient. Is there away to keep the “inner” topology of the captured depth instead of changing it to a distance field?

I am aware that I can create an entirely new blueprint brush as well, but I thought that there might be a quick fix because the landmass brushes are great for everything else!
