LAN / Local Hosting for Fortnite Creative — Let Players Experience Near-Zero Ping

Many Fortnite players live far from Epic server regions and have never experienced extremely low-ping Fortnite. For example, players in Lebanon commonly play around 50–70 ms even with a good internet connection.

I would like to suggest a Local/LAN mode for Fortnite Creative.

The idea would be to allow one device on a local network to host a private Creative session, while other players connected to the same router/LAN join it directly.

This could give players LAN-level latency — potentially below 1 ms — without requiring an Epic data center nearby.

This would be especially useful for:

  • Freebuilding and editing practice
  • 1v1s, box fights and Creative maps
  • Gaming cafés
  • LAN tournaments
  • Countries far away from Fortnite server regions
  • UEFN/Creative testing

It does not need to be fully offline Fortnite.

Players could still connect to Epic first for authentication and downloading the island, but once the session starts, the actual gameplay simulation could run locally.

To prevent abuse, LAN Creative sessions could disable:

  • XP
  • Quests
  • Ranked progression
  • Matchmaking rating
  • Competitive statistics
  • Any progression/rewards that require Epic’s authoritative servers

So essentially:

Fortnite Creative + Private Match + Local/LAN Server

Games such as Counter-Strike allow local servers, which gives players the ability to practice and play with extremely low latency regardless of where they live.

Millions of Fortnite players live far from Epic server locations. A restricted LAN Creative mode would finally let those players experience how responsive Fortnite feels at extremely low latency, while also opening up new possibilities for gaming cafés, local tournaments and Creative communities.

I would love to know whether Epic has ever considered something like this.

I don’t believe such a thing is possible, the risky parts of doing this would be too bad,
just off the top of my head I can think of the following issues.

  1. You would need epic’s server code to be able to run a game on LAN something that I doubt would be something they’d want to just hand over.
  2. Same issues as above but now for UGC developers, for any UEFN game to run on LAN you need the server files which would include any proprietary verse code a dev has made, which they most likely will NOT want to give away.

That being said I’d love if somehow it was possible to run especially single player experiences lag-free locally.
