I have notice a very disturbing trend going on within the Unreal Marketplace. This frustration has been by individuals promoting their content(a.k.a developers) within the Marketplace and by those purchasing that content(a.k.a customers). There seems to be an issue in the process of getting content updated by developers. Some of the content within the Marketplace has not been updated since release 4.9 of the engine. Then once a item is updated it seems to not make it to the Marketplace for release to the customers. This to me **devalues** any and all products being promoted with the Marketplace. Were is incentive to create content for Marketplace if it can not be purchased by the customers cause it not being posted to the marketplace? On the flip side of this where is the incentives to purchase said products if they are not going to be kept up to date on newer releases? I have tried a number of time to get an answer to these an other questions dealing with the Marketplace. from both Epic and developers promoting there products. But those questions go for weeks and people do not receive any kind of feedback from Epic or developers. You have an incredible engine. You seem to always being making new releases, but who I managing the upkeep of what is already out there to make sure this contact is still useful within the new engines being released.
Epic have a policy of marketplace content needing to be updated within a certain timeframe, or for the developer to notify Epic that they need more time, with each new engine version release. If it isn’t updated, it’s meant to be pulled from the marketplace. Whether that is being applied or not I can’t comment on because I don’t sift through the marketplace looking at everything but I know there are definitely a large number of us marketplace creators who do maintain our content and strive to not only update it to new versions, but also resolve bugs, add features, and so on. There is often a delay between us sending an update to Epic and it being pushed to customers, which is unfortunate, but Epic have said they are trying to streamline a lot of this stuff so hopefully in future it will be sped up.
If an asset isn’t updated to the new version, and especially if it has not been updated since 4.9, it should really be removed. It would probably be worth naming these assets and we can point Epic to them that way.
I agree I do not have the time to scan all of the Marketplace myself. But I purchased the product “SpaceBox Variable” back when it first came out pre-4.9. Since that time it was updated to version 4.9, but it seen to start having issue around that time. I have and others have put in request to see if it going to be updated to a more current release. But as you can see there been no feed back from the developer on this item. Like I said this makes one leery on the next purchase. I have purchased other products from the Marketplace and those have been useful and maintained very well. Just it seem this one has just died on the vine so to speak.
