Thanks to your feedback, a free tier is now available! You’ll now receive 250 free text dialogue generations every month, resetting on the 1st of each month. Here’s how it works:

  • If you have GPT Credits: The system will use those first, giving you access to our more advanced AI model with both text and voice generation.
  • If you don’t have GPT Credits: You’ll automatically use the free tier, which includes 250 text-only generations each month. This uses a lighter AI model, so responses may be slightly less detailed.

This update is already live now on fab.

Known Issue with the demo content as of 05/12/2025

Fixed as of V1.3 Update

In the demo content, there is a current issue where the text generation on the free tier will not show up on certain showroom demos, this is because the voice generation is failing I did not connect the on failure execution pin to the text widget.

I plan to address this in a patch later this week but if you use the demo content please be aware of this. I will make a patch notes once its ready and live.

If using the demo, please look at the Voice or text generation sample for an example of how to fix it, it’s a very simple fix.

There is another known issue with the mannequin rig found in the show room demo, a patch is expected may 15th for this issue.

V1.3 Patch Notes

Hey all,

Here are the patch notes for the latest 1.3 update releasing today 5/15/2025.

Features:

  • You can now assign montages to your dialogue context so you can play animations on characters based on the dialogue they are given.
  • The demo content now has text above characters heads when they talk.
  • New metallic materials and textures have been added to manny and quinn.
  • 3 new animations have been added for quinn and manny, happy, sad, angry for when they talk. You can use these in your projects if you wish.

Bug Fixes:

  • Animations on demo content should now work properly and use the correct skeleton.
  • The demo content character should now have functional input on all installs. Previously he would not move if the third person template was not in your project.
  • Materials and textures should apply correctly to demo content characters.
  • Free tier now works as text only generation on all demo content show case examples.

Plans for the next update:

  1. An array of montage selections with a new V2 dialogue component to not break V1 versions.
  2. An interaction interface for easy NPC engagements.
  3. A dialogue context generator for easier filling out of dialogue context.
  4. Fallback voice dialogue with generation saving for offline use.
  5. A subtitle system to display subtitles on screen when dialogue is generated.
  6. Any feedback I get from users will be implemented as well.

V1.5 Hotfix releasing 5/23/2025

Hey Devs,

I just released a small hotfix for the plugin with a couple of important updates:

UI Fixes
• The correct toolbar icon should now display properly. A recent change by Fab caused the icon to appear as a white square—this has been fixed.

Future-Proofing
• I’m planning some summer giveaways for active users! To support this, the plugin now adds a simple timestamp to your user data that tracks when you last logged in with the plugin. This data is private, never shared, and only used to see who’s actively using the plugin.

Roadmap and Upcoming Changes:

I am going to be overhauling and expanding this plugin beyond dialogue in 2025 and 2026.

Here is the roadmap for it in 2025-2026:

:folded_hands: The plugin stays free with a free tier for all, using GPT credits after the free tier runs out. Certain features will be usable on free tier while some will require GPT Credits.

Overall the goal is to make this the go to AI plugin on fab and useful for every project not just ones that need lots of dialogue like the current version. Some of these timelines may change but this is what is expected.

Details for the August 2025 update: this update focuses on QOL and improving the developer experience, along with improvements to AI models and pricing structures:

:police_car_light: AI generated context for rapid iteration and high-quality AI dialogue. You won’t need to manually fill out the GPT context struct anymore, just give a character prompt like “gruff knight serving King Arthur”, a character name, and any additional context about your dialogue, then click a button and the AI will fill it out for you.

:+1:Native support for data tables with editor tools for quickly filling out the AI context and fallback dialogue. This should improve usability with other Fab products and larger projects.

:woman_dancing: You will be able to use an array of montages with the dialogue generation, these will be picked at random.

:united_states::globe_showing_europe_africa: AI-based localization that is very affordable and can be done through a single node. Simply input a string and return a translated string in almost any language on Earth. Automatic generation translation has also been improved and works natively with the culture system in Unreal. This is perfect for menus, HUDs, tooltips, and other parts of the project that need localizing.

:dollar_banknote: Updates to GPT credits will allow you to get 2-4x as many credits per credit pack purchase.

:speech_balloon: A fully integrated easy-to-use subtitle system has been added that works natively with generative voice dialogue and also can be used with any string or text variable you input. It auto-detects when characters are speaking for visibility and can support stacking of multiple characters talking at once similar to AAA systems. This will be completely free for all users and offline supported.

:speaking_head: Support for Eleven Labs and updated AI models for better dialogue for premium users. Eleven Labs will add over 3000 high-quality voices to the plugin. Note: Eleven Labs does not offer unlimited API usage so OpenAI will be used for fallback if lots of people are using it, the more people use it the larger we can expand the API usage.

:folded_hands: There will be support for making fallback voice lines and text lines in the editor using a GUI tool. This way, fallback users can have the same feature set as online users; it will just be the same each time.

:star: A new node will be added that can input an audio file with speech and return text(speech to text). This will likely use the Whisper AI model and can be used for the subtitle system from audio files you may have.

:brain: Finally, smart NPCs are getting some upgrades. There will be a new system for interacting with NPCs using just a few nodes on a component, and there will be a new feature to talk with them using a microphone from the speech to text feature or text input. This will be better than other products on the market due to better AI models and integration.

This is a big update, and it’s just the beginning for GPT tools. The plan is for this plugin to be the everything AI integration with Unreal, offering cheaper AI, more features than competitors, and higher quality. Thank you to everyone who has signed up so far; big things are coming.
