Kodoku3d (game system based on the player ego-trip)

I am happy to present the first images of the Kodoku-3d, a game fully developed using Ue4. Kodoku 3D is a fantasy thriller game with two strong principles: visual references to the 90’s and a game system based on the player ego-trip.

Genesis
We initially started developing Kodoku in 2D for Psvita with a small team. With that team we were also working on a graphic novel. The project was greenlighted in 72 hours. Unfortunately we had to stop the project for financial reasons. So as the game designer and art director of the game, a few months ago, I have decided to carry on the project by myself.

Concept
I have decided to create a game with visual references to the 90’s and to use this style as well to communicate about the game. Even though the game is inspired by the 90’s, I am using a very modern game system to make it more interesting.
For example:

  • The game system
    o A mix of rocket games and a system focused on the player’s ego-trip. Being gently humiliated is always terrible but fun. :smiling_face:
  • The art
    o The textures of the characters are done on the texture files and not on the 3d models (because back then it was technically impossible to use another method).
    o The game title “Kodoku 3D” and the PC icon are meant to inform the audience that the game is in full 3D like we would do back in the days.
