Just trying to create roads and sidewalks for a neighbourhood. Why is this so hard?

Hi there,

Trying to create roads for a suburban neighbourhood, I understand there are several tutorials online but none of them capture the detail im going for or its way too advanced and not even giving me what i want. I just want to make a road that has a T-intersection and sidewalks. When I make a spline and try to split it in two, it gives me this Y- axis that I need to be straighter, but the straighter I go the more it seems to be conflicting with the spline and not giving me my desired result. As for sidewalks, I was hoping I could just make sidewalk along the road with a different spline, but I can’t find out how to put a separate mesh in and the landscape only allows me one spline layer.

I can’t seem to understand why making a simple road with sidewalks is so hard. If anyone could please offer some advice I’d greatly appreciate. Thank you for taking the time to read.

Are you using Landscape Splines or regular splines with a blueprint? I haven’t personally used them, but our tech artist used landscape splines to create our roads and stuff pretty easily. He created a bunch of different road pieces that he put into the spline so he could choose which intersection pieces to put in. (4 way, 3 way, sidewalks, no sidewalks, etc.)
