Hey @Jenga_WWW! Welcome to the forums!

Here’s a long post of people having a similar issue with the Exception Access Violations and their fixes! There are several numbered 0x000…8!

cant see how I can use this as a solution. I just installed unreal for the first time ever and it seems like its already broken. each project I try and create just dosent work. this artical seems like its from someone who has been useing the program for a time and the problm seems like it was limeted to a single project. is it at all possible something went wrong with the instalation or something on my pc thats preventing it from working?

@Jenga_WWW I’m sorry to hear that. I would suggest trying to uninstall/reinstall.
What version are you trying to run? Is it 4.27 or 5.0 or 5.1?

5.0.3 ive already tried re installing unreal to no avail. I could try re installing epic games store but I dont see how that would make a difference. ive got nothing on unreal or the epic store so id be willing to completely reset them.

Update: It apears that its only the current version that is haveing this problem (5.0). The previous version seems to work just fine (4.27).

Gonna try and see if I cant convert a progect from the previous version to the newer version and see if its the progects created in 5.0 that crash or if its 5.0 itself that keeps crashing.

aha I was able to load it up. it seems like 5.0 for some reason is creating these unusable projects. ill continue to fiddle around with it.

@Jenga_WWW Strange!

I looked further into this and it seems like the most common issue for 0x0…08 is multiple variables with the same name in different blueprints being given the same ItemID. What’s weird is your issue being caused with a NEW project…

yea its pretty frustraiting at least I found a way to make projects that dont crash even if it is a verry round about way of doing so. hopefully ill be able to figure out why its happening.

Update: I think I may Have found something. I went to the Template folder to see if I couldent screw around with things there and opened the blank template itself. this poped up and some files began to apear.

after clicking yes it brought up an error message I was unable to screenshot. I tried loading it again with the same message and after getting a screenshot of the first message the message dissapeared and the progect opened and is now being treated like a normal progect. creating a new blank template still crashes but im going to see if I cant fix that.

Straaaaaaange.

What if you delete that module and run a verification after that? That would hopefully download the correct engine version’s template.

how would I run a verification?

Just like so!

Update: its seems as if the template files are perfectly fine. I’ve tried replacing them as well as creating a custom template. all of this worked without issue except for the fact that the templates still crashed upon trying to create them.

So I’ve concluded that the problem stems from the process of unreal converting the templates to projects. So somewhere along the way the files become corrupted and un usable.

Since I’ve completely re installed 5.0 a number of times I have also concluded that the problem is external and likely the result of conflicting files on my PC. Because of this I doubt that I will ever be able to truly fix this bug but if anyone has any ideas of what could be causing this I would be happy to hear them.

I can still access the templates I just have to copy them and convert them so they can be accessed in the engine. this should’nt be a problem though it still would be nice if my PC was’nt like this.

From what you’ve gathered it looks like a fresh OS install is in order :frowning:
My heart goes out to you. I would advise you to wait though, until Windows 11 gets its priorities in order and irons out their UE5 issues.

Update: 5.1 just released and thankfully seems to be working just fine. looks like I no longer need to worry about this issue. this was quite the pickle and I’m glad that this release was able to solve the problem.

hopefully nothing like this happens again, and thanks for all the support through this process. Maybe this discussion can be helpful for someone else trying to sort out an issue but for now looks like everything is good and in order.
