Welcome to your cabin aboard Canadian Pacific’s Empress of France in 1952.
This environment is built around the story of Lawrence, a young man from Hong Kong, traveling to Canada aboard a steamship to start medical school. I spent a lot of time modeling his personal belongings to place around the room as well as materials from the ship. Lawrence collected postcards from his previous journey from Hong Kong to London, where he then boarded the Empress of Canada to travel to his final destination.
This project gave me a great opportunity to learn Unreal Engine 5 including Nanite, Lumen lighting, and Niagara particle effects. I also created dozens of Alphas and textures using Photoshop and Illustrator when texturing the assets throughout the room.
This project will be submitted to The Rookies 2024 later this month.
All assets were simulated/modeled/textured/rendered by me except for the flowers in the vase.
Please let me know what you think! Thanks

Hi there @Shorydouken ! Welcome to posting with us here! We’re so happy to have you.
Is this scene based off of a true story? I got a little engrossed in your tale and spotting all the little details in the cabin that I was curious if it was something true or a little story of your own. Either way, your storytelling both through visual and word is truly captivating. I’m curious to see what else you’ll share in the future!
Looks great. I am thinking along the lines of a adventure game, either 1st person, or stationary cameras and point and click. The only thing that seems out of proportion is the large chair.
