hello, i’m working on a jet pack blueprint system, these are the features that i will include on it
simple jetpack model
jetpack pickup,
Gas pickup,
gas tank consuming,
falling damage,
simple hud that show if the jet pack is on, the current and max amount of jetpack 's gas
simple hud with player 's health
you can set max gas and health in the blueprint
hud made with umg
i have a simple question, in the jetpack blueprint i have used the torch particle effect from the elemental demo, can this effect and apply to put the blueprint package on the marketplace or i need to create my own fire effect ?
Well I’m just saying I would be uncomfortable of including any 3rd party content into a product I plan on selling. Even worst buying a asset that uses suspect content in a game with plans to sell it.
Something simple like flames has two sides which do not carry the same rights. Use art that’s copyright and if code that’s IP property both which are in a state of chaos. Its also a question that I would not expect Epic to answer in an open forum, as in don’t create policy on the fly kind of thing, but most likely be pointed out when you submit.
I’m assuming this is the case as part of the submission process as they are also passing assets through “legal”, and assuming again, that the product is free from any other forms of rights issues such as IP and copyrights. I’m willing to bet there have been a few suspect assets submitted even in the short period.
Like I said if you have to ask…
and
Just saying if a product has 3rd party content that’s a deal breaker for me.
i’m just asking here to avoid issues in the submission process, by the way i have update the first post with a video of the jetpack working in a level.
P.S. That is what the submission process is all about. You submit, they get back to you with a list of things that needs to be fixed, and your done. It’s a good thing for everyone instead of dealing with bullet points.
Ah not to be the bad guy but the key words is “in any games you make” and not as in any assets you want to sell. That would be like opening a hot dog stand and thinking it’s ok to use the restaurant across the street ketchup.
If it was OK then everyone would be building assets out of stuff we already get for free.
Just PM Chance and see if he can get an answer for you one way or another as the power that is Epic usual don’t answer policy questions in an open forum.
Indeed, it would be great to have an official reply from epic.
There is another thread herein which this same issue is discussed, but then again no official reply. I think I’ll PM Chance and ask him to have a look at this thread as you propose.
i have wrote a pm to chance, he told me that he think that there will be no problem with this, but he also told to ask directly on the marketplace team via email, i’m waiting the answer from the marketplace team, when they answer me i will put the answer here to let the other users know if this can be done.
I just received a reply from Epic’s Marketplace team: it is not possible to include Epic’s content in individual packages. Here is the reply from the team:
i saw that the marketplace team will come back on january 7, i will submit the jetpack to approval after that, if epic approve the package it will be on the marketplace.
i’m waiting for the response from the marketplace team, i have submitted the jetpack system to the marketplace on January 5, but i haven’t received any answer yet.
