It breaks my heart that I can’t participate in new Fortnite Island Creator Program just because of my nationality. That’s sad that I am deprived of these opportunities, simply because I am from another country. I am not guilty of anything, I just want to create as well as all other people in this world.
I used to create popular maps for Far Cry 3, 4; GTA Online, Rust (even Facepunch posted my maps multiple times in their community blogs), I learn Unreal Engine and used to create simple indie games. With my enthusiasm and my vision I could bring more fun into the game, but I simply can’t because of my nationality.
Epic Games uses Hyperwallet for their payment system, and you must be able to receive money through it, but Hyperwallet simply doesn’t work in my country (Belarus), that is why I am not allowed to participate
It seems to me that this is unfair and doesn’t correspond to the philosophy of Epic Games about their openness, general availability and lack of monopoly.
When you work day-in day-out to create something people will enjoy, being compensated if it works seems quite normal to me… so I can totally understand the OP.
World situation right now is very complicated so that’s unfortunately not a surprise there are problems when it’s about money transfer to countries like Belarus… hope you’ll find a way to get this sort out with Epic Games team @ORTyOW !
Hey, i think you should be able to create an online bank account in a country that is supported. than ship from their to your bekarus bank account. Dont think this should be a huge hassle, or is it? at least something i would try to figure out as an option.
Because the way he constructed his post, it sounds like he is sad because someone is preventing him from expressing his creativity.
My point, expressed satirically, is that, that’s not true. Truth is that he is sad because he can’t earn extra money here. He is also saying that the reason is his nationality which is sneaky way of calling racism card, which makes no sense here because exclusion is based on countries, not on nationality. He then ends his story talking about how this is unfair because it does not correspond to Epic philosophy about openness, general availability and monopoly? What’s that? How is monopoly related to his case? Or is that just another attempt at randomly throwing popular accusations?
All in all, I fully agree that it’s not fair that someone can not participate in a creator program because of the country but has nothing to do with creativity, enthusiasm, vision, openness or monopoly.
Should someone from Belaurs have access to Creator program if he/she did not publish “popular maps for Far Cry 3, 4; GTA Online, Rust”?
I won’t argue with what your perception is about OP’s intentions, pulling victim cards and such. Maybe you’re right, maybe you are not.
But I strongly disagree with the point that expressing creativity and earning money while doing it are completely different things, and are not codependent.
Sure, in an ideal utopic world, people wouldn’t care about rewards other than spiritual, when expressing themselves in art, be it painting, music, or making videogames.
In the real world however, where you have to pay rent, have to earn decent amount of money just to not sleep under a bridge, and possibly prevent those under your direct responsibility (family) from sharing the same fate, you are forced to care about rewards of your creative endeavor.
You may be the most creative, most brilliant creator in the world. What is it worth if it can’t earn you and your family a living? How long will you be even physically able to keep expressing your creativity?
So yes, lack of monetization can and is very much preventing artists from expressing their creativity.
I can’t publish maps because I don’t fit with “Able to receive engagement payouts using Epic’s payment platform(s), currently Hyperwallet”, which is the mandatory rule for participating in the Program. What will you say about that? And even if I could publish without monetization, that wouldn’t encourage me to bring fun into the game. Your first question is basically the same as if I asked you “Can’t you just work without monetizing your efforts?” and then I will say that you are just sad because you are not getting paid for your work. These utopian satirical thoughts of yours that have nothing to do with the real world and are not relevant here at all. All you’re doing here right now is spreading demagoguery, just to get to the bottom of the words, and not pay attention to real problems.
In the real world, in order for real problems to be solved, they must first be declared. Awareness of the problem is the first step towards solving it. But apparently in such situations you prefer to endure and remain silent, devaluing other people’s problems and trying to put them in a negative way. I wish you the best of luck to open your eyes and stop making nonsense arguments that don’t lead to productive problem solving. All you’re doing here is creating controversy.
I read your original post again and have the same thoughts.
You are making a lot of drama calling the “why me” argument while in reality it’s not all about you. It’s not because of your nationality, it’s not only you who is effected from Belarus and it’s not only Belarus.
Btw, there are many people from all over the world who currently can’t publish or earn because of the publishing bug, if you are not aware. Possibly even no one can publish who did’t have prior publishing rights. And we have raised that issue but I haven’t seen anyone going to such lengths how he/she can’t publish but is oh so talented and gow the world is in such a loss w/o their contribution.
I understand your issue and support your initiative, but you are making it all sound like you are the queen of drama.
You’re just being mad about nothing and you act like a child, you try to accuse me of the fact that you think I don’t choose my words the right way, you get to the bottom of the words, but not to the point. You say that there are many people from all over the world who currently can’t publish or earn because of the publishing bug, but that has nothing to do with my topic. The bug will be fixed soon, but nothing will change to me. People from all over the world will be able to publish and earn, but not me. Not me, not other creators from Belarus, Turkey and some other countries, because Hyperwallet doesn’t work there. I may sound like drama queen and you may not like the way I express my thoughts, but atleast I do not twist the facts and do not discount other people’s problems. The reason why I covered Epic’s philosophy of their “openness, general availability and lack of monopoly” is because they could at least allow us use alternative payment systems, not only Hyperwallet, because Hyperwallet is far from the best and has a lot of restrictions that restrict residents of countries like Belarus. And yes, this refers to my nationality, since I was born and live in Belarus, this is my native country and I am Belarusian by nation. And then there is you, a person who is not familiar with my problems, who comes to this topic, in which I share a real problem, and spoils here with your polemical comments, devaluing my problems, accusing me of dramaquinism and trying to make it look like I’m a bad person. You didn’t bring anything useful here. Stop poisoning this topic with your negativity, you are biased.
