Issue with updating/reinstalling UE4

Hi,
For the past week I’ve been struggling to reinstall UE4 because I wanted to go back to it.
So here is the full story: a few months after it became available for everyone I decided to install it. Because I didn’t have enough space on my systems’ SSD, I had to install it on another hard drive. Fast-forward a few months and I changed my previous hard drives for some SSHDs. But the thing is that the drive letters have changed. So now that I want to uninstall it and reinstall it properly, well I can’t. Either the installer or the uninstaller both indicate it cannot find UE4 on the drive it is supposed to be, because the drive doesn’t exist anymore. I’m working with Windows 8.1 x64. I have tried to investigate and change registry keys to maybe fix that issue but unfortunatly that didn’t work so far.
So if someone knows which file/key to change to make the uninstalling process go through in that particular case that would be very helpful.

Thank you for your time.

Try deleting all of UE4 from the registry. (Back the registry up before doing this! You never know! Also save any work you need.)
run a ccleaner scan or two right after that.

Hope that works!

Hi,
Unfortunatly that didn’t work, I tried different options to pin point the registry issues using the scanner from ccleaner. I did cleaned what I could find by hand in the registry and on my systems’ drive before hand.
Still, thank you for your quick and precise answer. I hope someone will find the right solution to this problem.

Hi nnorm.

You can post your issue to the Installation and Setup section on the UE4 Answerhub, and our Engine support team will try to offer some help.

If the issue is with the Launcher itself (the Launcher manages engine installation), you may get redirected to help.epicgames.com, which has an email link to reach out to our Launcher support staff.

Cheers
