Issue with Full 3D Model Displaying Only as Dense Point Cloud in High Detail Mode

Hello everyone,

I’ve encountered an issue with model generation and display in RealityCapture, and I’m hoping for some guidance.

When I compute the model using Preview and Normal quality, I get a complete 3D model without any issues. However, when I switch to High Detail mode, the model doesn’t fully generate, and when I zoom in, I only see a dense point cloud instead of a full mesh.

Additionally, yesterday I successfully generated a complete 3D model using Normal quality. But today, when I reopened the file, the model appears again as a dense point cloud. There’s a message in the top-left corner of the software that says: “Displaying vertices. To ensure the smooth performance of the renderer, the rendering mode switched to the dense point cloud.” However, I can’t find any settings to adjust this display mode back to a full mesh.

Could anyone help me understand why this happens, and how I can ensure the complete 3D model is displayed consistently?

Thank you for your assistance!

Hi Cly,
which version of RealityCapture are you using?
In general, the rendering depends on your GPU. You can check the number of maximal triangles to display under WORKFLOW/Application/Settings/Rendering settings/Max triangles to display

If your model is bigger as set value, then it is rendered as point cloud.
