I switched my project from UE4.11.2 to UE4.12.2 and I am facing some issues with Child Actor Components.
You will find attached a project with a map containing a BP used to scatter a mesh. It is named BP_WkObjectsGridSimplified. It is a light version of something more complex that hopefully will facilitate the debug. This BP creates instances from the static mesh set in its parameters; it works well in UE 4.11.2 and UE 4.12.2.
The other row of objects is a BP that use BP_WkObjectsGridSimplified as a Child Actor Component. It works well in UE 4.11.2 but it is impossible to change the static mesh input in UE 4.12.2.

I was able to reproduce this issue on our end using the project provided. I have written up a report (UE-31956) and I have submitted it to the developers for further consideration. I saw that it is not in the list of the hotfixes of 4.12.3. Would it be possible to do something about it? We are highly dependent on this feature for our project and we would love to move to 4.12 soon.

I went ahead and double checked on this issue for you. It appears that it’s status has not yet been updated to fixed. This being the case there is no definite time frame in place for an implementation of a solution at this time.
I saw this issue was fixed on 4.12.4. I tested it and everything is fine now
