Deep sigh…
I assume Fab will have to try to stop this software from working on this site, because obviously it will not only cost us us money but Fab too. But Fab need to get a move on as their update for FAB support is coming soon!
The ripper is being heavily discounted at the moment so even more people rippers will be able to fleece the crap out of us
Still! On the plus side it says…“Ripped Models are not allowed to be used in Commercial Projects”
…PHEW! Thank goodness for that huh?
Only way to protect your work from software like this is to not upoload it to any online 3d viewer.
Before I started using Sketchfab to display my models on Artstation I would create close up wireframe pics to show off the quality of the topology. I"m really not happy with the thought of having to spend the time doing that again, but on the other hand if it stops rippers stealing my hard work then I suppose I will have to rethink using 3D viewers.
If Fab staff are reading this…what if anything can Fab do about rippers? Or is it back to good old fashioned quality images?
After having a think about this I have now deleted all my models on Sketchfab (except the model I give for free, on Fab)
I have no idea how many models I have lost to ripper software but it won’t be happening anymore, and I don’t have my models on any other platform apart from Fab.
It’s annoying having to remove them…because, using it on Artstation to display the topology.
While deleting the models I noticed that almost half of them weren’t linked to Fab, which was disappointing as that may have affected possible sales.
I wonder how those with much bigger catalogues and more detailed models think about 3D viewers, as they are losing much more time, effort and money than me?
