Island getting rejected because my thumbnail violates IP Rule 1.7

Hi Epic, I wanted to ask why you’re rejecting the Thumbnail. I created this image with your own Uefn Sniping-Tool . My question is, why does this violate rule 1.7?

Ablehnung einer Fortnite-Kreativmodus-Insel – 1808-9021-2109v1 (c8982a91-7a83-4477-9f53-c21a04042225)

I have the feeling this only happens with older Fortnite Maps; this Map is from 2021. Other Creators have had the exact same issue. Perhaps the Thumbnail isn’t updated by the Moderaters from Epic, which is why it’s being rejected.

This is the old Thumbnail and it violates Rule 1.7 :backhand_index_pointing_down: :backhand_index_pointing_down: :backhand_index_pointing_down:

Hi again,

I see nothing wrong with your new thumbnail. I also wonder if they are somehow seeing an older version. - I think it would be reasonable for you to appeal that moderation decision.

If for some reason your appeal is denied, the next thing I’d be wondering about is any imported models/textures on your map. (Maybe the moderator mistakenly marked thumbnail infringement instead of asset infringement)

There is no imported models/textures on my map!!!

I intentionally didn’t use any fonts or skins because you criticized them last time, but I knew that wasn’t the problem. So I just used the bare thumbnail I created with the UEFN Sniping Tool, which Epic moderators can’t really criticize because I created it.

Something’s wrong with the thumbnail moderation here.

I´ve done the appeal but it was rejected!!! :face_exhaling:

Hmm.. Going back to the rejection email you received saying you violated rule 1.7 - Was there any extra info, or did it basically just repeat the rule?

Also, I know I only mentioned Character Art/Models before, but having the 'Fortnite Battle Royale" logo anywhere would also be cause for rejection.

What does your Island Description say?

Yes there was a Extra Info, they rejected it because of the Picture, the Picture Viloates rule 1.7!!!

There is no mentioned Character Art/Models, but i also have no 'Fortnite Battle Royale" logo

Hello can you Answer what the Problem is???

That thumbnail looks perfectly passable to me. What I always wonder about is the “A thumbnail should be engaging” section of the thumbnail guidelines.

So while that thumbnail doesn’t violate any rules - something about it feels sad/empty and not very engaging. I realize that this was an attempt by you to create a very simple/minimal thumbnail.

I think the next step might be putting a title on that thumbnail and submitting. (I wouldn’t worry about font usage, it’s just the actual logo/”battle royale” text they have a problem with)

At that point if you got a rejection it would hopefully contain a bit more information as to what and why it’s being rejected. Also with a new submission you should be able to submit another appeal if it is rejected.

if they had another rule, why it was not used? would be curious on that or if it was a mistake.

topics like this, would be very curious about. more so when they deal with a lot of IP’s (not long ago they made some statements around it) be both good and bad, to how this affects the creative platform. but if its something that is very close to the main modes or “official content”, could see it cause some issues. even if there will be less to choose from as more similar-ish content gets published and how things will be 5+ years from now. to how favorite content would go into the shadow realm by one reason or another.
