Is Unreal suitable for a solo developer or is best for large teams

I’m trying to learn Unreal as well as build games at reasonable pace. I’m struggling as a fairly experienced solo developer. Is this the wrong tool for a solo game developer am I best with a more basic tool or my own engine? I like to the look and results with UE5 but each time I want to do something I have to spend nearly a day watching tutorials to do real basic stuff is this right am I missing something here?

The more you use it, the less time you’ll need to spend learning techniques - it’ll be the same with any software - and unless you’ve got prior experience writing your own engine - that will almost definitely take longer - DirectX isn’t a beginners tool.

Its the same for any engine. You need to have tons of knowledge even with blueprints.

I know Unity and now studying UE
For me personally it’s the same time of learning.

Thanks agreed. I feel comfortable with C# and Unity and feel I have complete control over game creation. For some reason I imagined blueprints to be speedy solution so I could have an easier learning curve a bit of a break from Unity and C#. I guess for now I’m best sticking to my current set up for my main projects and keeping a check on the tools that become available with UE5. However I like creating with UE5 Lyra this gives me hope I can at some stage create more and research less so will set a small goal of launching a basic game with Lyra.

Yes agreed sometimes I forget the amount of effort already invested in previous tools and methods only so much you can learn all at once. I guess its useful to have a main skill and a rough idea on other Engines ready to adapt if needed.
