Hi here are my specs:
8 GB Ram
i5-7 GEN @ 2.71 Ghz
HD Graphics 620
So unreal engine 4.27 or 5.0 and above , which will perform better for me after I disable features like global lighting, all those lumens, virtual shadow maps , nanite and so on ?
How can I increase my performance on unreal 5 even more , what can i do ?
I know my device is weak but still what’s the best I can develop on ?
Also I ran 4.27 on device weaker than this for around 60 FPS.
Please be a bit clear with your answer too.
as always depends on your needs. for my project I profit from chaos async tick delivering more stable physics results than physx substepping (racing game). also my frametime went up a lot with the last few versions (i am on 5.4) .
i have an old intel i7 and a gtx 1070 so even older pc’s profit from it. you may also profit from the new toolings, not necessarily the new graphical features. but you still have the option to enable them later.
overall i have a better coding experience with VS22 and ue5, although live coding is still trash and regularly leads to crashes. most things feel more stable and faster UX-wise.
also, i can play my packaged game on a potatoe, an office notebook that doesnt even have a dedicated gpu. although i have to lower the render resolution to 75% and everything is set to the lowest settings i still get 100+ fps. and it doesnt look completely like trash, but yeah i guess that also depends on the art style of the game and the assets.
