I just bought a $70.00 RPG Maker, because I will make an RPG game first. After I am done with that, I am looking into advancing into this, is that a good idea? Can the Unreal Engine meet video game standards? Please let me know.
‘Can the Unreal Engine meet video game standards’ - I’m not sure of these standards you speak of, but I can assure you that UE4 can do so much more than RPG Maker will ever be capable of.
I personally would directly start with the UE4, because the engine is really easy to use + you can create entire games without real programming (blueprints)
The UE4 will surely meet the game dev standards -> it’s a AAA engine
Yeah, I figured it would be MUCH better than RPG Maker.
Thanks for the feedback!
Thanks! I definitely will… Thanks for the help!
I actually suggest starting with RPG Maker rather than U4. The reason is U4 CAN do SOOOO much more… but then you’re going to spend a lot of time tinkering and not much time building. RPGM will give you a clear path from start to finish, and getting your first game DONE is worth a lot more than learning an engine. There’s a lot more to game development than knowing the engine (in fact, I put knowing the code at the bottom of the list, unless your goal is to just work on programming). You’re going to find even using a simple tool like RPGMaker and standard assets, creating a coherent game experience is going to be extremely time consuming, difficult, and full of things you never even thought of. If you start with U4 and don’t have a very specific vision, you’re going to be lost in the forest of blueprints and will likely waste a lot of time.
Just my 2 cents is all, everyone is different
