Is there any way to rotate the brush when painting landscape?

Hi Everyone, Im just trying to make a stylized oasis and I make with Substance Designer a material for the sand going to one direction. The idea is to paint on the shoreline rotating the brush to get the shoreline horizontally. I hope you understand what I mean. Those are the examples:

I don’t know… But what seems to make the most sense in my head is a flow map: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9PuIlPmm2iI. Basically, you would have to paint in the area in a flow map with a direction causing the UVs to rotate to face the desired direction you want to use.

Hopefully someone else can chime in who knows more about this than I do.

thanks for the quick response I will try to make it with this, thanks for the advise!

I spoke with a colleague today at work today who’s been in the industry for 15+ years. What you are trying to do is very hard and there isn’t really a good solution for it.

So the fastest solution is to create diferent material layers with different orientation and blend it on the paint process? I’ve tried what you say before but I didnt got a good result hahahah

Yeah, unfortunately I don’t know of a better method. To solve this, you would most likely have to use complex maths / shaders or an expensive method in the render pipeline to get it to work.

I would love if someone else could chime in, perhaps I am missing something.
