Is there any way for me to make a niagara particle system react to light organically?

I’ve been hopelessly wrestling with niagara to have my dust motes particle system react to the lights in my scene, ie get darker in shadows brighter in light. It works when I am facing them from the same direction as the light but not from the opposite, I get that they’re 2d sprites but any way to for example in blueprint somehow fix this?
