Is there an 'Exit Editor' prompt option?

Even after a year, I still keep accidentally maximising an asset (e.g. a texture) clicking [X] (top right) to close it, forgetting that the [x] does not close the maximised texture window but EXIT the editor!

I know I should probably get used to it, but instinct is hard to override when you have been closing the current maximized window with top-right [x] for years.

I know there is a little ‘x’ on the asset tab itself (to close it) so I will have to get used to it.
However, it easy to forget, because if an asset window is sizeable (not maximized) you can close it by using the [x]. It’s probably only me doing this so I’ll adapt.

Nonetheless, I was wondering if there was a "Do you want to exit UE4? [ Yes ] [ No ] " option hidden away somewhere in the config files?

You could unset the OPEN IN A NEW WINDOW setting in PREFS. BUT, its broken with 4.10. Tested on 4.9.2 and it works fine. That way you can just get use to closing the tab. Yeah, you would need to re-learn…

I’ve never used/seen that option before.
Perhaps it will be fixed in the next release.

Thanks for pointing it out.

The editor should prompt you to save if you accidentally close it. You can choose to cancel and it will not close the editor.

"The editor should prompt you to save if you accidentally close it. You can choose to cancel and it will not close the editor. "

Yes it does indeed, however, if there is nothing to save then the editor swiftly vanishes and I have to restart it. Nothing is lost, it’s just a personal irritant.

Nonetheless, I am conditioning myself to never use the [x] for any docked asset windows, which is what always catches me out.
