Is there a way to use unreal engine 5 on an external hard drive (MAC)

I have a mac with an ssd of 121gb but sadly I use most of the apps that I have. My free storage only contains 30gb. Luckily I have a Usb Hdd of 1tb so I installed it on there but now I get this error that tells me that it needs to be installed on a drive formatted as case-insensitive (Basically it wants it on my ssd right?). So my question is - Is there a way to use unreal engine 5 on an external hard drive

Fixed it by myself if you are wondering what to do you need to reformat your hard drive to a case insensitive format. So for mac you need to reformat it to EXFAT and this will solve your issue.

I used Mac OS Extended (Journaled) on my external drive and didin’t have type of problem you mentioned. However I had this problem, which I fixed by running this command in terminal/command line “sudo xcode-select -s /Applications/Xcode.app/Contents/Developer”. Now is everything compiling and hope no more errors appear

I had the same issue after but I found something on google that does the same thing and it worked but still I have even more bugs

Really? Wanna show and help? Or you gave up. I just installed epic games launcher, then in the UE5 installation I chose my external disk and installed it directly on it and now running without any problems so far.

No I didn’t gave up it’s just I took a pause from all of this mess. I know what do to but I don’t have the storage space because I can’t install Xcode on my hdd unless you know a site where I could download the dmg of Xcode.

I haven’t tested it, but I believe it’s gonna work. Installing Xcode 11.x on MAC using External HDD | Xcode | mycodetips - YouTube

is there any way to fix this without having to delete al the Data on the drive?

Hey I’m trying to get unreal but my laptop doesn’t have enough storage. What is the best portable hard drive I can use to run Unreal Engine 5?
