Is there a way to transition from one mesh to another smoothly without using external tools?

Hey everybody.

I’m wondering if there’s a way to take one static mesh and have it appear to morph into a second one without having to resort to external tools?

For anyone who isn’t sure of what I’m talking about, I’ve attached a gif file showing what I’m thinking.

If there isn’t any way to do it inside the engine without external help, what is the simplest method for someone who knows a very small amount theory about 3D art and animation but with no practical experience or tools of any sort.
