For example when i use the Shelf Frame, which is an interior decor element, it has photographs in frames but also includes a shelf where the photos are placed. I would like to remove the shelf part, as im putting the photographs on a thin glass shelf.

Thank you for posting in the community your question, and unfortunately modifying the object you are describing is not possible, you can change the textures however by using the Material Picker. I recommend you make an invisible material for the shelf (by starting with a glass material and changing the opacity) and then use the thin glass shelf you already have.
You can use another object as well such as the Frame Composition and those can be edited as individual pieces.
