Is there a way to attach spline control rig to a spline mesh?

Is there a way to attach a spline mesh to a control rig? In the control rig and in the spline mesh, the control element is the spline. But how to connect control rig spline to control the spline mesh?
I need to accurately animate the rope (animate knotting).
I know how to do it in Maya. Not with skeletal animation, but with splines. Passing animation through alembic is too expensive. And in UE there are no tools for managing spines points in the sequencer.
