Is there a way, in RC or another software, to convert the texture (and UV map) to human-consumable format?

In many cases I want to retouch the texture that was generated by RC, but the UV map is often a crazy jumbled mess that makes that almost impossible.

Is there an automated way to make this texture more human friendly?

Thanks!

hello, could you please specifiy what you mean by making texture “more human-friendly” / “human-consumable”?

I think the whole question of “human friendly” really means a format that anyone can view it. There are some solutions out there. Sketchfab allows you to upload models directly from CR. You can then view 3D models on a desktop or a mobile device.

My take on the comment was the UVs generated are usually pretty messy looking in a 2D view. Compared to a clean looking UV you’d see in say a video game where you can see a clear layout of how the texture would wrap around the model.

Basically comes down to the photogrammetry models having really complicated geometry so its breaks the UV down into lots of little bits. If the model is simplified down enough the UV starts looking a bit easier to view in a 2D view. Problem in the past has been to keep that texture quality you would have to use 3rd party software to remake the UV and re-project onto the lower poly model. I think the new re-projection tool in RC solves this problem and keeps that workflow within RC.
