I’m working on a Goal net for a hockey game and I am having issues with the puck colliding with a cloth asset I made for the netting itself…
When the puck is shot at the net it does affect the cloth EVER so slightly but only for a split second.
I modeled the net mesh as a plane in 3ds max and gave it plenty of subdivision and the cloth effect itself works great with it aside from collisions…
My goal is to have the cloth collide with the puck and keep it inside the net instead of flying straight through it.
I’ve tried several angles on this trying to perfect it but I’ve had no luck.
I also tried importing another “net” that’s just a static mesh (no cloth additions) as a collision mesh that I placed an inch behind the cloth net and only 2/5 times does the puck actually get stopped by it. The puck is using a simple collision and collides perfectly everywhere BUT the net. (CCD was enabled on both assets)
So I have 2 questions.
-
Is it possible for a cloth asset to stop/collide with a mesh that’s simulating physics?
-
If the best I can get is at least some movement in the net from the puck then what would you suggest I do to keep the puck inside the net instead of launching thru the back of it?
Here’s an example video…
Thanks in advance for any suggestions!
