Sometimes the Unity forum can be a bit extreme. As to your project, I don’t see any problem with posting project files and giving people the permission to build off of them
Unity forum can be a bit barbaric at times. I’m not sure how you survived through 5k messages there.
UE community is generally more liberal and friendly.
I’ve met a lot of developers that have actually left unity because of the way some people behave. the main issue was that a group of them are friends and are Moderators/admins too so when you have a falling out with one of them they just get their friends/Admin to ban you. it happens a lot.
My friend the other day asked the moderator why he got a warning, the next day he logged into the forum and received a message that he was banned. yep I couldn’t believe it when i heard it. what they dont know is this guy is setting up a studio and was in the process of getting many subscriptions. lol he decided to take my advice and is now planning on using Unreal. Unity is going to need as much money as possible in the coming years. It’s not going well for them financially and I’ll bet lots of my money they will lay of over 35% of their workforce in the next 2 years.
Some nice people over there but unfortunately their reputation is ruined by a few.
To be fair he had been creating multiple threads about the same topic. Most forums have a rule against this (usually as part of a no spam rule). The moderators simply choose to close the thread he has listed because it wasn’t the original one. His original thread is still open.
Unity rarely bans people. Almost always it’s due to piracy. Simply asking for information about a warning would not have resulted in a ban.
On the contrary it is going very well for them financially. This is in spite of the fact that they do occasionally make some pretty bone-headed decisions like the brief period they introduced Lithium as a web portal.
No. There was a brief period when they were bringing in additional moderators and fortunately for them they didn’t pick me. I just spend entirely too much time on forums in general.
