I don’t know how I ended up in this situtation. But I think this is what happened:
Since 2021 I have used the username BigMonet on the unrealengine forums. About a year ago, I started to play Fortnite with my nephews and I think that is when I had to create an account at EpicGames.com
When I did that, it said that BigMonet was already taken. So I used Big_Monet. I noticed recently that my user name changes depending on what Epic web page I am on, and its a bit confusing and irritating.
For example, if I log into forums.unrealengine.com my username will display as expected on the top right of the screen as BigMonet. However, if I click on BigMonet and navigate to “Account,” I will be taking to the account settings page and now on the top right my username is magically displayed as Big_Monet.
This is the part the is super confusing to me, and I can’t change my name on this page because it says the name is taken (its taken by me!)
Is there a way to remedy this so I can use the same name in both locations? I contacted support and they told me it was an unreal engine problem, they were very fast to give me an answer, but they didn’t seem to understand that my two accounts are linked but showing a different username.
