Whenever I startup with a startup movie selected, the screen goes white and I hear it start up for a few seconds and then the level starts uo
Howdy fanzypantz,
I have been working to try and recreate the issue that you are seeing while setting up a movie using UE4. If possible, could you link the video here so that I could better assist you with the issue that you are seeing.
Thanks and have a great day!
Also, this seems to be the same issue as this one:
So you might want to subscribe to that thread too.
Here is the video. Its H.256 codec.
Unfortunately, I do not see the link for the video. Do you mind sharing it again?
oh that was stupid of me
Did you encode your video using something like Handbrake using Anamorphic settings? If so as a temporary work around can you try encoding with that setting set to “Strict” and see if that fixes it.
Having the same issue. I still get a white screen with Handbrake. The weird thing is that inside the engine the movies play with no problem.
Hey fanzypantz and Zumf,
Just a quick question. Is your project a content-only project or a code based project?
Its content-only since we don’t know how to code(poor students) But we made it 1080p is that not supported? I think someone said that in the other tread.
Content only does it mean: made by blueprints only? Like using the templates available in the engine?
When you began your project, did you select Code or Blueprint? (ex: Code first person or Blueprint first person)
Not sure if you’re asking me, but I choose Blueprint, my whole project is done with it.
Sorry about that . I had your name there but it didn’t show up when I posted the question. Yes, I did mean you. Thanks for the response.
Hey fanzypantz,
In 4.2, any Content-Only game is going to be broken for movie playback as the Slate content is not being copied to the game currently. I have spoken to a couple of devs and they have been working on the movie issue and hope to have it resolved in future builds. I am unsure as to what build or date of the build but it is a known issue that is being fixed.
Hope this clears up any confusion. Have a great day!
Thanks. I’ll be looking forward to this, and I hope there will come more and better tools for content-only games.
So the movies options is not working with blueprint made projects? Just to be clear
Yes, thats about it. If you started with a code project instead, then you probably would have access to this
That is correct . Currently, the BP based projects are causing the issue.
Thxs for clearing it out, yet I have some input you may find interesting: If I launch the game from within the editor: the movies do play quite alright. Only on the packaged game is the problem. I’ll probably go with a matinee level as a turnaround
