So I’ve just tried to install new UE4 version (4.23) and I get error code IS-PL01 just after selecting install path.
Path is totally indentical to all my previous versions, it looks like this:
G:\Unreal Engine\VersionsInstalled\UE_4.23
There is 500GB free on my hard drive so I don’t think that is the problem either.
It just say: Maximum path length exceeded. Please specify a shorter install location.
This doesn’t make any sense as install location is the same as all previous versions like I already wroted.
I have just shortened install path a bit and manage to install it in:
G:\Unreal Engine\Install\UE_4.23
I still don’t like the fact that most of the previous versions are still installed in the same location on my hard drive that now suddenly appears “too long”. Not sure why they’ve introduced so short path limit this time.
I had the same problem than you and i succeed to install U.E
I think you have to uninstall U.E, then install it at D:\Unreal engine\ or whatever. It must be the root of your hard drive
I’d like to second this issue. My path is “D:\Application Files\Epic Games\UE_" and now it’s suddenly too long. Apparently “Program Files” takes bit less characters than “Application Files”. Of course I can install it on "D:\UEShort\UE_” but it breaks the order I organize things.
-note: the star (*) means the current version. Today being “…\UE_4.23”. I have UE_4.22 already installed in the same path without any issues, and never have had any until now.
