Is permanent alien nanite area possible?

I remember back during the ufo season there was a landmark called the hatchery where there was an alien floating around. The nanite field stayed there the whole game. I think there was actually a couple spots like that!

Is that possible to do that in creative 2.0? Specifically I want the nanite effect when a player enters a certain area, so if I could trigger the effect onentering a modulator, that will work too.

I tried going in creative editing mode in game, but I cant throw the nanite on the ground until I start the game. I thought maybe I would be able to copy it after placing it… Idk.
