Is my laptop good for Unreal? (Specs)

Ive been working on a project and its been lagging and optimization isnt going too good so im wondering if its my laptop, if its even good for unreal

Processor: Intel(R) Core™ i3-8130U CPU @ 2.20GHz 2.21 GHz

RAM: 8.00 GB

64 bit operating system

Windows 10

Also its made by Lenovo

Almost any laptop is going to be ****** for unreal. Especially one with those specs sorry if u want to get anything done in this field get yourself a proper desktop pc.

Honestly, thank you. Now I dont have to waste time trying to fix my game performance

The i3 CPU is generally a poor performer, and in the case of this CPU, it only has 2 cores, so the performance is going to be pretty bad when dealing with the OS, UE4 Editor, and anything else you are trying to work on. 8GB Ram is also very low when working in Unreal Editor, I would recommend 16GB of ram for a reasonable level of performance. Seeing that this laptop has an i3 CPU and 8GB ram, I am assuming that there is no dedicated GPU, which means it will use your i3’s integrated graphics, Intel UHD 620, this too is an incredibly weak performer in Unreal Engine. If you were strictly working on a 2D game, you might be able to get away with this. Though in that case, I would recommend Unity for a 2D game as it is very light on editor resources.
I would also recommend buying a desktop, you don’t have to spend that much to get a decent small system setup to work in Unreal Engine comfortably. There are MANY notebooks that will give you a great working experience in Unreal Engine, they in general are cost prohibitive, especially when compared to the cost of desktop. Good luck!
