IKinema + all the free mocap data on different uni sites around the world, sounds like a better option than mixamo.
Edit: Oops. Sorry for gravedigging. Forgot I got here through google.

I am actually exploring what Daz3D Genesis2 can offer, and so far looks like an interesting route to consider.
Yes there are a lot of mocap sites with free content or cheap bundles, all around the internet.
MakeHuman/Genesis2+Ikinema seems like an viable the alternative to Mixamo.
I am not against Mixamo at all, as I said, they seems to do a great job, except pricing imo, which is more that confusing and expensive. You can’t beat $0 or $19 with $125 per month.
Mixamo has a huge animation library, and tthey are all really good. You can make your own character in a 3d app and import it into their system so you can use their animations on your own creations. I think its pretty darn amazing myself, especially the value for money.
Holy necro-bump batmo. I heard a rumor that Mixamo was being dropped for Unreal 4… is that true? Does it matter if you just want to use their animations (and do people use it for rigging in their pipeline as well?)
Thanks
Their support for exporting textures in an Unreal Engine format has been dropped and the result is pretty bad. You could still retarget the animations to a different character, so those still have some use, but I’d say the quality of the textures has degraded. On top of that, the dev team has been pulled off to work on ‘Project Felix,’ a 3D photo compositing tool, and has stated that they won’t be working on Fuse / Mixamo again this year. I suspect, for all intents and purposes, that Fuse/Mixamo is a dead tool.
