Is localization with PO files the best way?

As far as I have gathered, it is the advice method to localize with the PO files the engine can export.
My problem with them is, that there are no namespaces included and therefore editors can’t group by them. Depending on how many texts need translation in different areas of the game it can get quite messy.

Is there a better way? Do any of you use the archive files with a custom editor? (I at least didn’t find any editor for the archive files)
