Hello, i recently noticed when looking at the Preview Platform settings under scalability. it shows a greyed out option for Linux with the Vulkan backend.
Does this mean UEFN and Fortite will be supported on Linux soon?
I hope so because i get better FPS on Linux then on Windows.
I hope so as well the only thing keeping me on Windows is UEFN.
Tired of updates arbitrarily changing my settings to whatever lets MS collect the most data. The idea that you have to change registry values because they’ll revert your settings and group policy options during updates is straight up unethical.
If UEFN gets linux support i’ll happily bid my farewell.
Sidenote: I’ve used ReviOS to remove some of the MS… cruft, and bonus since it turns off some of the unused background processes, Windows will use less memory & CPU (some YouTube tests shows it can help improve FPS in games).
I haven’t used UEFN much after using ReviOS, but I was able to load ‘Twisted Towers’ or whatever prcon map.
Warning: I suggest to keep the Windows Defender & auto-updates on.
replace EpicWebHelperEditor.exe with a dummy executable because otherwise itll crash in a loop in background slowly leaking more and more memory.
If anyone needs help troubleshooting Linux (and to a degree macOS, since it uses the same stack with wine) issues with UEFN, im happy to help as I’ve spent some time pefecting my workflow on Linux.
either contact me here (in replies/dms whatever this forum has) or discord at @v0xl
UEFN actually works surpsisingly well and fully usable with Kron4ek/Wine-Builds version of Wine (and latest vkd3d-proton), it fixes the random crashes and context menu issues for me.
Im running uefn through Heroic launcher.
The only issue is Version control, you need to clone the project under windows and then switch from urc://` to grpcs:// protocol but the connection is still kinda unstable after that.
For testing I’m running the Fortnite game under GeForce Now or Amazon Luna, and when starting session you have an option to connect to existing game instead of opening new game view.
