I am about to start working on a game, but I don’t have the time or patience to render environments myself.
I was thinking about buying premade environment assets from the unreal marketplace, but from what I understand, it is looked down upon, because too often people have just made asset flips, where they try to pass off low-effort copy-and-pasted and unaltered environments and objects as a game.
To clarify, I don’t feel what I intend to do with the premade environment assets is like that. What I personally intend to do is take the models from the packs, rearrange them to create new maps, and even mix together the models from different packs.
The only packs I intend to use for my project are realistic, outdoor environment asset packs. I also intend to have original assets made for the project, I just think that it is a better idea on using the premade assets from the marketplace, so I can focus on designing the maps and having the other assets I need for the project made.
On top of that, a lot of asset packs cost money, so I am not exactly gung-ho about getting them unless I have assurances that it is ok to use them for the finished project.
