I want to use UDK-UE3 instead UE4 due to My computer specifications is weak (Intel Core2Duo 2.6GHZ, RAM 2GB, Nvidia 280 1G, DX10), And I’m compelled to use UDK-UE3.
But the problem in the UDK-UE3 licence and its rules not good.
And for that reason I want to use UDK-UE3 but with licence and rules of UE4.
You have to contact Epic about that. Because, I do believe the old liscense is still there for UDK. But hey! Go ask them.
(You should get 4gb. It runs way better for UDK!)
I think the UDK licensing is pretty fair tbh, as far as I can make out you can develop the game for free and when you are ready to release it you pay $90 one off fee and royalties of $2,500 after you’ve made your first $60,000, 25% thereafter.
Well, first I should say that you should upgrade your PC ASAP, if you plan on making any games, you need to at least have the specs that an end-user would need to play them, you’d have to upgrade your whole PC, but it would be worth it. As far as licensing goes, just send them an email and ask about it.
For Unreal Engine 4, the engine is provided to you at no upfront cost. You will have to pay a 5% royalty of gross revenue on anything you publish that is made in Unreal Engine 4 if you earn more than $3000 per quarter, payments are due about 45 days after the end of each quarter.
“no upfront cost” is the best advantage.
Regarding to “5% royalty” is payable if gross revenue in a quarter is more than $3000, but if the gross revenue in a quarter less than $3000 I am not required to pay anything ?
“payments are due about 45 days after the end of each quarter”. I did not understand this point well.

If you do not make more than 3,000 in that quarter… YOU OWE NOTHING! Also, The payment thing is just to tell you how long until you have to pay.
