Is it possible to limit the distance of a directional light?

I don’t know if it would be wise to just create a point light with a very large attenuation but basically I’ve create a sort of backlight sun in my scene.

My scene is extremely light on shadows and lighting due to the stylized nature of it so there’s no lumen or anything being used.

I have my sunlight pointing west and my second directional light (the backlight) pointing east. But I don’t want the backlight to affect my shadows beyond a certain distance. So instead of this backlight casting to an infinite distance, I’d like to reduce that to control which objects further away are still in the shadow for stylistic reasons.

I could just use Decals to fake the distant shadows or even modify the textures. I don’t know which would be a more computationally light solution to be honest.

If its for styliatic purposes, why not use light channels instead?
